Dress Rehearsal

WED (May 22nd) Dress Rehearsal Schedule
THURS (May 23rd) Dress Rehearsal Schedule
Click the above buttons to view the complete Wednesday and Thursday dress rehearsal schedules.
Location: North Shore Center for Performing Arts
Date:
Wednesday, May 22nd - AND/OR - Thursday, May 23rd
Please refer to the handout sent home with your child’s costume for their designated rehearsal time(s).    Each class has been assigned a specific day and time.  If your dancer takes more than one class, please be sure to note the rehearsal times for each class.

(Note: The rehearsal schedule is NOT the same as the show order.  We try to our best to schedule back-to-back rehearsal times for our students who take multiple classes, in order to limit the need for parents to drive back and forth from the theater.  The show order is a separate line up, strategically laid out to ensure students in multiple numbers have sufficient time to change costumes between performances.)

Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled dance time.
Drop your dancer off at the back stage door, located behind the building.  After your dancer has been received by one of our staff members, you may then park your car, and come in through the front doors of the theater. You are welcome to watch your child’s rehearsal from the auditorium.  Toward the end of their rehearsal, we will have the kids pose on stage and invite you to take a quick photo of them with their class in costume. When your dancer is finished, you may collect them from the same rear stage door as drop-off.

We highly recommend you try out hair/makeup for the dress rehearsal.  Along with your dancer’s costume, you will find a 2023 “Show Off” accessory list.  There you will find a thorough explanation of any costume details, as well as a guide to hair and make-up for the actual show.

If you have any questions at the dress rehearsal regarding hair and/or makeup, we are ALWAYS here to help!

Dress Rehearsal FAQ:
Q: Where do I drop off my child?
A:
When you arrive at the theater, drive around the left side of the building to the parking lot in back.  You will see a sign welcoming our D2D dancers at the stage door. Please walk your child to the door to be checked in, and one of our staff will escort them to the dressing rooms and stage when it is their turn to dance.  You are welcome to re-enter the theater through the main lobby to watch the rehearsal.  After your child's class has finished with their on-stage rehearsal, please return to the stage door where you dropped them off to meet for pick up.

Q: When should my child arrive to dress rehearsal?
A:
Please plan to drop off your child at the stage door 10-15 min before their scheduled rehearsal. Dress rehearsal moves quickly, and we HAVE to stay on schedule in order to ensure every class has their time on  stage.  This means that when a class has their turn on stage, we are unable to wait if you are running late.  If you arrive after your child's class has had their turn on stage, we will not be to go back and run their routine again.

Q: What should my child wear/bring?
A:
Dancers should arrive wearing the costume for their earliest scheduled rehearsal, wearing stage hair and makeup.  (For students in more than one dance, please bring any other costumes on a hanger in a garment bag.)

Q: What if my dancer has more than one dance?
A:
If your dancer has more than one dance, they should come to rehearsal wearing the costume for their earliest scheduled dance.  Additional costumes (including any accessories they may have) should be brought to rehearsal on a hanger in a garment bag.  If your dancer has two dances scheduled back to back, they will not change into the second costume.  They will rehearse the second dance while wearing the costume of their first dance.  However, we recommend you still bring the additional costume.

Q: I am NOT great at hair and makeup...HELP!?
A:
Not a problem.  This is one of the reasons why we have a dress rehearsal!  This way, we can review everyone's completed "look" before the big day!  If you need help with hair or makeup, or have any questions, just ask! We will be more than happy to help. One of our staff or older students will gladly assist you.

Q: How long is my child's dress rehearsal? Do they need to be there the full hour?
A:
Each hour of the dress rehearsal is slotted to allow time for 4-6 classes to have their time on the stage. When it's your child's class' turn, they will have the opportunity to practice entering and exiting the stage, review stage marks and formations with their teacher, then run the routine with music and lighting cues.  Depending on how quickly this process goes, they may have the ability to run their dance twice.  Afterward, we will have the kids pose at the front of the stage for a quick photo op! Once your child's class has exited the stage, they are free to go!
